Savannah group organizes rally in support of missing Nigerian girls

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

A group in Savannah gathered on Thursday night in support of the girls who were abducted from their dorms on April 15.

Their message was simple: show that Savannah stands in support of these girls and they want them returned home safely.

Rally organizers took to the streets on Thursday night to take the message from social media to Savannah to make every day people more aware of what's happening to the nearly 300 girls who were kidnapped from their school nearly a month ago.

During the last 10 days, social media helped to bring the kidnappings in Nigeria to the attention of national leaders here in the United States.

"What's happening over there deserves the world's attention, that these girls have literally preparing themselves to be educated, great role models, great world changers, and just like that, snatched in the middle of the night by militant terrorists all because they wanted to sell these girls for gain and it's just unacceptable and we can't be quiet about it," said rally organizer Pastor Corey Williams.

Organizers are encouraging people to use the hashtag #BringBackOurGirls to spread the word about this event.
