Folks from all over enjoy Savannah Scottish Games

Posted: Updated:

The 2014 Savannah Scottish Games was held on Saturday at Bethesda Acadamy. Each year, folks from all around come to enjoy the sites, sounds, and even tastes, of the games.

Organizers try to make the games as similar as possible to the same games experienced as early as 100 AD. The event also included dancing and bagpipe competitions, as well as lots of shopping opportunities.

"Everyone should go to a Scottish Games at least once in their lives. Some people come to the Scottish Games in joy and appreciate it, others come and 'Oh, that's nice,' but many come for many years in a row. It is important for our heritage, it is important for our nations heritage, because we are such a mixture of different people," said Neill McDonald, President, Savannah Scottish Games.

The Savannah Games are the fourth oldest Scottish Games in the Southeastern United States.
