Fatal wreck brings tragedy on Mother's Day

Posted: Updated:

Altoria Adger awoke this Mother's Day to a terrible tragedy: her husband, Latroy Adger, was killed in a fatal wreck around 2:13 Sunday morning.

"We were supposed to be relaxing, spending family-time together. I can never imagine I would get a knock on my front door to tell me my husband is gone. Last night would be my last night seeing my husband," said Altoria.

Investigators say the car Latroy was riding in, a Volvo XC-90 Sport Utility, was travelling south on Abercorn at a high rate of speed. The driver, Latroy's cousin, Rick Adger, lost control of the car, crossing through the median. The car took out shrubs and a metal light pole before crashing into a large tree on the corner of 49th Street. Rick was rushed to the hospital in critical condition and Latroy was pronounced dead on the scene.

Altoria remains strong and courageous through this tradegy, saying, "I have to stay strong for my kids because that is what he would want me to do."

Adger does not have insurance and is worried she will not be able to bury her husband. For information on how to help and donate to Altoria and the Adger family, call 912.346.6183.

Savannah-Chatham Metro's Major Accident Investigation Team continues to investigate.
