Cyclist nears end of cross-country ride

STATESBORO, GA (WTOC) -

Steve Pulley wrapped up the 50th day of his cross country bike ride by arriving in Statesboro from Vidalia.

Pulley started on the California coast and is on his way to his hometown of Charleston.

Pulley started the ride to raise funds and awareness for the Center for Addiction Recovery at Georgia Southern University.

Pulley, a recovering addict, graduated from GSU after first leaving school.

"I've spoken 25 times, at universities, halfway houses, and 28 day treatment centers," he explained. "If I can just plant a seed and it makes a difference with one person, it's a success."

Pulley will rest two days in Statesboro, then head through Savannah on his way to Charleston where he'll dip a bicycle wheel in the Atlantic Ocean.
