STATESBORO, GA (WTOC) -

A company that makes glass panels for high rise buildings announced that it add 125 additional jobs to their plant outside Statesboro.

Managers for Viracon made the annoucement along with Governor Nathan Deal and local officials from Statesboro and Bulloch County.

"We always love good news of expanding existing plants and adding more jobs to a community," said plant manager Rick Farmer.

Two years ago, Viracon shut down the plant for six months after a slump in the market. They laid off workers while they revamped the plant that opened in 1998.

"When we reopened that August, 80 percent of our workers came back to get a job," Farmer added.

Gov. Deal pointed to the expansion as a positive sign of the economy growing again.

"It's a sign that construction is starting to recover and businesses are starting to build," the governor said. "Our state's economic development is not limited to just bringing new companies here.
