SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

Downtown business owners are reacting to the fight between two families on River Street that occurred on Saturday night.

One man claimed he and his family were assaulted and there was a delayed response from police, but surveillance video showed both families were involved.

Now, people who live and work downtown said there is a big police presence on River Street, and that overall the area is safe.

"Savannah is fantastic," said downtown business owner Dickey Mopper. "Downtown Savannah is safe for tourists. The odds of being mugged or hurt in downtown Savannah are slim.

Downtown business owners said they encourage police to send more officers to River Street when possible, but they said the police department is already doing a great job patrolling that area.
