LONGVIEW, TX (KLTV) - A 31-year-old woman who posed as a sophomore at an East Texas high school is making international news, and now police say she could be older than they first thought.

Longview police now say Charity Johnson lied to them about her age and is actually 34. She was arrested Tuesday for failure to identify herself after the woman she lived with suspected she was not who she claimed to be.

"When I saw that come across my Facebook page last night I was like, 'I know that girl! I see her at the McDonalds,'" says Roshunda Floyd, one of Charity Johnson's co-workers. Floyd works at Walmart in Longview. Charity Johnson worked at the McDonalds inside the store and asked Floyd for her help one night.

"She needed help for an outfit for what she told me was a family reunion," says Floyd, "I asked her, 'How old are you?' She said, 'Oh, I'm just a sophomore in high school.' I said, 'Really?' I said, 'You seem to be a little older than that.' She didn't say anything."

Floyd's premonitions were right, and now other Walmart employees are calling about the news.

"We've all seen her and we've all wondered about her because she's always quiet and to herself, you know," Floyd says.

Rickie Williams says he and Charity started dating last summer and just learned of her arrest on Thursday, "My best friend showed me and I was shocked. I did not know she was 31." Williams says Charity told him she was 18.

Floyd says she can't stop reading the comments about Charity online. "I was seeing some of the things saying she didn't look like she needed to go to jail, she needed help, and she probably does, but my question is, why would she do that? Lie about your age just to go back to school, you know?"

New Life Christian School officials say Charity presented herself as a well behaved teenager and had no reported discipline problems. They say a letter was sent home with students regarding Charity.

Johnson is being held in the Gregg County Jail on a $500 bond.

Orange Crush 2018 is in full effect this weekend, but so is the alcohol ban across Tybee Island. Law enforcement has been preparing for this huge annual event for some time. Patrol cars were lined up along Highway 80 as a cautionary measure to deter drinking and driving. Tybee police say they haven't made any arrests on Saturday, and many partygoers say they are aware of the alcohol ban and are abiding by it.  "So far, most folks are well behaved," said Tybe...
