Critical Issues Forum

Community leaders are coming together to plan for the future of Savannah's economy. They held a "critical issues forum" this morning at the First City Club. Economic development and business leaders discussed the workplace of the future and how to bring in new businesses based on information technology and creativity.

They call them knowledge-based businesses. "Knowledge based are companies that use brain power to produce products or services that are good in the marketplace," explained Lynn Bitts, a senior VP with the Savannah Economic Development Authority.

Presenters say this type of company offers high-quality, high-wage work, and that our area has the right technical infrastructure and lots of training available at local universities.
