Hitting the Links for the Special Olympics

Some familiar faces were out golfing today for a good cause. WTOC's own Doug Weathers hit the links along with our meteorologist Dave Turley and producer Aaron Vogel. They made up one of many teams golfing at Southbridge to benefit the Special Olympics of Georgia.

Organizers were hoping to raise as much as $10,000 for some very deserving athletes. "We have about 22,000 Special Olympians in Georgia, and the more people we can get to help and and the more people from the community we can get to help these athletes, the better," said organizer Georgia Sheats.

The Special Olympics Committee says they had great participation this year and hope to have room for even more teams next year.
