Home Depot on Victory reopens after box fire

Posted: Updated:
SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

The Home Depot on Victory Drive is back open for business after a fire broke out Sunday afternoon.

Officials are investigating a box fire in the back of the store. Fire officials say they still do not know what caused it this time. Several boxes caught fire and they had to shut power off to the building.

No damage was reported inside the building. There was minimal charring to the back of the structure. The store was closed for the rest of the day Sunday and the power stayed off throughout the night.

The store re-opened on Monday morning, a decision made by city officials. An inspection was performed late Sunday night to make sure everything was safe to re-open, and then Georgia Power was given the green light to turn the power back on.

The store re-opened for business early Monday morning.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
