Police investigate after man shot on 46th Street

Metro Police responded to the scene of a shooting in West Savannah early Wednesday morning.

It happened around 3 a.m. at the intersection of West 46th and Burroughs streets. Police say a man in his mid-twenties was walking with his girlfriend along West 46th Street when the suspect or suspects ran up and opened fire. The man was struck in the leg and was transported to Memorial University Medical Center with what police say are serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

Police say they do not believe this was a random act and that this was a targeted shooting. They say they are searching for a suspect but could not give any descriptions at this time.

All roads around the crime scene have reopened to traffic.

SCMPD Violent Crimes detectives are investigating. Anyone with information regarding the shooting should contact Savannah-Chatham Metro Police.
