Woman finds money, returns it to employee

VIDALIA, GA (WTOC) -

Jill Poole stopped at the Vidalia Dairy Queen after a hot afternoon umpiring recreation ballgames.

"I got out of my car and I saw money on the ground, when I leaned down I realized it was a lot of $100 bills," she said.

Ten of them, in fact. With the $1,000 was a pay stub from the Dairy Queen with a name.

"I went inside and asked for the person," she said. "He was apprehensive at first because he didn't know me. But I told him he probably wanted to see me and would probably want to hug me."

Poole, a special education teacher, returned the money to the grateful employee who hadn't realized it was missing.

"When you know somebody worked hard for that money, I knew I hadn't, it never entered my mind to keep it," she said.

Poole credited her parents and a religious upbringing for her actions.
