SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

Students and staff at Beach High School helped fight Multiple Sclerosis and gave Team WTOC's My MS Savannah Social Media Fundraising Campaign a boost on Wednesday.

They participated in a 5K fun run, and students donated $2 to take part to run or walk. They raised $300 and still counting.

It was a team effort, with all grade levels getting involved and more than 100 students signing up to fight MS.

"We study about it in class, especially in Human Anatomy, and we know it is very serious, and we know a lot of people can really benefit from this, so I'm glad to take part," said student Jamontray Mike.

Former WTOC sports reporter and anchor Melissa Maikos Ptacin organized the event. WTOC would like to extend a very warm thank you to Melissa, as well as the girls on the Run Team from Hodge Elementary, who also got into the action.
