Members of the Catholic War Veterans of
Savannah gathered to put up several hundred crosses for fallen military
personnel and held a dedication ceremony.
The crosses were set up at the Catholic cemetery
on Wheaton Street to remember Catholic war veterans that have died.
The group started several years ago with 25
crosses, and this year they set up more than 200 crosses.
"You and I wouldn't be free to stand here and
do this if it hadn't been for these people, but I just wish there was some way
that people wouldn't just slough off the sacrifices men and women have made for
us in every war," said Tommy I. Brunson, past commander of the Catholic War
Veterans of Savannah.
