Savannah man arrested on multiple drug charges

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

A Savannah man was arrested on multiple charges on Thursday after a would-be customer attracted police attention by driving recklessly through a surveillance operation.

Colis Jermaine Allen, 35, has been charged with trafficking in cocaine, possession of a controlled substance, possession with intent to distribute, possession of marijuana, cruelty to children, no child restraint system, possession of tools for the commission of a crime and driving with a suspended license.

Allen also has an extensive history of arrests by Metro Police.

Allen was arrested by Central Precinct officers near West 41st and Stevens streets at about 4:55 p.m.

Central Precinct Tactical Investigations Unit and Crime Suppression Unit Officers were working in the neighborhood when a speeding car conducted unusual turns. Unmarked units saw the car stop on 41st Street and watched as the driver entered another car driven by Allen.

Officers stopped the car and found Allen inside with a 2-year-old child unrestrained in the car. Also found in the car was cocaine, marijuana, cash, scales and other items.

The child was returned to her mother unharmed.
