AAA cautions Memorial Day weekend drivers

South Carolina -

AAA Carolinas says Memorial Day weekend is one of the most dangerous weekends of the year and they're urging drivers to use extra caution.

They are reminding motorists not to drink and drive, text and drive, and to be patient while on the road. AAA are expecting to see almost half a million people on the road. They say that's the highest number in almost 9 years.

"It's not the most dangerous holiday weekend but it certainly is one of them. We have about 400 people nationally that die on the roadways nationally. South Carolina had 13 last year and that was the highest total in 4 years and we're just saying you need to relax while you're driving," said AAA Manager of Public Relations, Tom Crosby.

Sadly Memorial Day weekend also marks the beginning of the 100 deadliest days of driving for teens. Drivers should slow down and be careful while on the roads.
