Baby in critical condition after fall from balcony

A 9-month-old girl is in critical condition after falling from a balcony at the Hyatt Regency in downtown Savannah Friday night.

According to Savannah-Chatham police, the mother was holding the baby, when she slipped from her grip and fell.

WTOC spoke to a woman who was walking out of the Hyatt's gift shop when it all happened.

She heard something fall behind her, turned around, and realized it was a baby.

The woman said the baby was not breathing at first, and two other hotel guests helped perform CPR.

She says the child finally started breathing again, even wiggling her legs, but she never cried.

Hyatt Regency General Manager, Scott Snipes, told WTOC they are offering support along with their thoughts and prayers to the family. They are also working with the Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police Department as they continue to investigate.
