Memorial Day observance at Veterans Park


Effingham citizens will come together at a program in the Veterans Park to remember those that have served their country. It is a national holiday set aside for this remembrance and appreciation of veterans.

Several veterans will take part in the program. Sen. Jack Hill a retired National Guard officer will be the speaker. Still serving his country, Lucan Hynes, will lead the singing. William Clark, a retired Army officer will give the invocation. The program Master of Ceremonies, Lamar Crosby is a retired Army officer.

Youth will be represented by the Jr. ROTC from ECHS, presenting the colors. The Guyton Boy Scout Troop #295 will lead the pledge to allegiance to the flag.

The public is invited and urged to attend and join the community in appreciation for all veterans.

The program will start at 6 p.m. at the Veterans Park on the by-pass in Springfield. The Board of Education auditorium on Ash Street will serve as a rain site.
