Miss Georgia visits the Children's Hospital at Memorial

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

Miss Georgia Carly Mathis spent time at the Children's Hospital at Memorial on Tuesday, touring the expansion of the neonatal intensive care unit, signing autographs for patients and visiting with the children and their families.

It's a part of her Miss America platform of health and heart safety.

The Miss America Pageant is a big supporter of the Children's Miracle Network, which supports the Children's Hospital at Memorial.

"It's so important because this is your future, these are your children that may be here," said Mathis. "You never know what may happen before they're born, or even after they're born. And like I said, it's important because without all these things, these babies may not live."

Join WTOC's Dawn Baker and John Wetherbee for the Children's Miracle Network Telethon right here on WTOC on Saturday from noon until 3 p.m., then again from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. to meet the children who were treated at the hospital, as well as the miracle workers who save lives every day and the sponsors who work to raise money to buy life saving equipment.

This year's broadcast is extra special, and it is dedicated to our dear friend Mike Manhatton.
