A Brunswick Police officer conducted a traffic stop on
Tuesday after a Jeep failed to stop at a red light while turning onto the F.J.
When the officer spoke with the driver, he smelled a strong
odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. He requested a K-9 to respond to the
scene. K-9 Brax II was deployed to the scene and he alerted on the Jeep.
When officers searched the vehicle, officers recovered .10
grams of cocaine, a half pound of marijuana and 2015.10 grams of suspected marijuana
The driver, Odet Douglas, 25, was charged with possession of
cocaine, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute and failure to obey
a traffic control device.
While officers were conducting the investigation, another
vehicle driven by Katherine Lang stopped and asked about Douglas, a friend.
K-9 Braxx II alerted on Lang's vehicle, and after a search
officers found an open container of alcohol, as well as 19.6 grams of
marijuana. Lang, 25, was charged with possession of marijuana less than an
ounce and possession of an open container.
The suspected marijuana powder seized from Douglas' Jeep was
sent to the GBI Crime Lab for positive identification. Glynn Brunswick Narcotics
Enforcement Team investigators said this is the first time the suspected marijuana
powder had been seized in Glynn County by authorities.
