Candler County Superintendent releases statement regarding recent employee arrests

Candler County Schools Superintendent has responded after two employees were arrested and one resigned.

Dt. Tom Bigwood said that Brianna Streetmon has resigned after being arrested for sexual assault by a person in authority.

On Tuesday GBI agents arrested Metter High School Media Specialist Regan Smith for inappropriate contact with a student.

"We have spoken with District Attorney Hayward Altman and his Expectation is that the investigation to be completely handled by the GBI and Candler County Sheriff's Office," said Dr. Bigwood. "We fully intend to cooperate with that expectation."
