BAIKONUR COSMODROME, KAZAKHSTAN (NASA/CNN) – Three, two, one, liftoff!

A Russian Soyuz rocket successfully launched from Kazakhstan on Wednesday carrying three new crew members to the International Space Station (ISS).

The group is made up of astronauts from the U.S., Russian and European space agencies.

They are scheduled to spend five and one-half months on the ISS.

The new group will join American Steve Swanson and two others who have been on the ISS since March 27.

Swanson's group is scheduled to return to Earth on September 10.
