The Savannah Chatham County Public School System discussed their upcoming budget. The topic of discussion was what will go and what will stay in the 2015 fiscal year?
The budget includes increasing the number of counselors in schools as well as the number of resource officers to include in K-8 schools. Superintendent Dr. Thomas Lockamy said the school board wants to hear the public's opinion about the budget.
"The community owns the budget, I mean they pay the bill. We need to hear their voice; what is the priority for them? Is it small class size, is it teacher salaries? What is it that they are asking for, or they see as a priority," said Lockamy.
The budget does not include salary increases for teachers.
