SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

A full-scale airport emergency plan exercise is being held Thursday at the Savannah-Hilton Head International Airport.

The drill will begin at 9 a.m. and will simulate the crash of a Boeing plane that slides off the runway after a hard landing, carrying a total of 70 passengers and crew.

FAA regulations require an airport operator to conduct live drills at an airport property every three years.

Thursday's drill will have no impact on routine airport operations.
