Police are investigating a deadly train accident that claimed the life of a Savannah man in West Chatham County. It happened just before five o'clock Sunday afternoon.
Police say 25 year old Campbell Jackson was riding his ATV with two of his friends about three and a half miles south of Buckhalter Road. When the men tried to cross the railroad tracks, a northbound train slammed into them. Jackson was thrown from his ATV. A boater found his body in the Forest River. Jackson's friends escaped with only minor injuries.
Police are still investigating. An autopsy will be performed to determine the cause of death.

Patrons of American Legion Post 135 took the time on Saturday to enjoy a few weekend drinks while giving back to those who gave the most.
