Heart of Passion puts on Red Carpet Day for teens with cancer

Posted: Updated:
SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

It was a few days of fun and comfort for teenagers battling cancer.

Teenagers from the Savannah area and across Georgia and South Carolina got a chance to escape reality and forget cancer for a few days as part of Red Carpet Day put on by the Heart of Passion.

The teens visited Stone Mountain Park, stayed at Lake Lanier, danced, fished and got to forget about their illness.

The event is coordinated for teens, by teens.

"I'm so excited for Cathleen," said mother Christina Chance. "She went through a lot of pokes and prods and scary times and beautiful baldness, and to be around people that know what you have gone through, I'm glad she has made friends with these guys."

Atlanta and New Orleans high school students coordinated the events. Several teens from Savannah took part in the trip.
