JASPER CO., SC (WTOC) -

South Carolina Highway Patrol and first responders are at the scene of a wreck along I-95.

A car pulling a trailer was traveling in the right lane along I-95 northbound Thursday when it swerved into the left lane and then back into the right lane just past the Georgia/South Carolina border on the SC side, causing the car and trailer to go off the highway and into the wood line where it sparked a fire.

The trailer attached was carrying a motorcycle inside with gas in its tank but officials say thankfully flames never reached the trailer.

Firefighters arrived and quickly extinguished the fire before it had a chance to spread.

A couple traveling to Connecticut were in the vehicle that crashed. They were shaken up by the wreck but luckily they were not injured. However, their car is totaled.

All lanes of I-95 northbound remain open but drivers should use extreme caution in the area as officials remain at the scene.

South Carolina State Patrol is investigating.
