STATESBORO, GA (WTOC) -

Aubrey Lee Price entered his plea Thursday on bank fraud, securities fraud and wire fraud.

Price is accused of embezzling and losing more than $21 million from investors and falsifying financial documents to cover his tracks.

Mary Jo Peters was one of those investors. She entrusted her retirement money with him. She sat in court Thursday as he took responsibility for his risky investments that led to the financial spiral.

"That was typical Lee. Very...'falling on his sword'. he speaks well and he sucks you in to his personality," she said afterward. "He's a good speaker so I'm sure the judge was impressed with his statement."

The judge will impose his sentence in a few weeks. Price faces a maximum of 30 years in prison.

The plea covers his Toombs County charges as well as fraud charges from investors in New York.

Price disappeared in June 2012. A suicide note was later found, and he was declared dead in Florida.

Price was arrested in December 2013 during a traffic stop on Interstate 95 in Brunswick and has been in jail ever since awaiting trial. He had been in hiding for a little over a year.
