Memorial fund started for 4 year old Guyton boy killed in wreck

EFFINGHAM CO., GA (WTOC) -

A memorial fund has now been started by the family of 4 year old Owen Rivers who died in a head on collision on Friday, June 6th around 3 p.m. on Ga. 17 between Jabez Jones and Roebling Roads.

Effingham County Sheriff's Office says they received a call from a motorist claiming they were behind a Jeep that was driving recklessly and crossing the lines.

2 Effingham County Sheriff's deputies immediately responded to the location and within less than 60 seconds of the call from the complainant that same Jeep crossed the center line and hit a white sedan head on.

According to Sheriff's spokesman David Ehsanipoor deputies, fire crews, and first responders arrived at the scene moments later and began rescue efforts to save a small child. 2 adults were also extricated from their vehicles with injuries.

The driver of the Jeep, Robert Kenneth Waugh, 38, of Guyton, was air lifted to Memorial Health University Medical Center with life threatening injuries. The driver of the white sedan is 22 year old mother, Adrianna Flowers, 22, of Guyton. She was taken to Memorial Health University Medical Center with serious injuries.

Adrianna Flower's 4 year old son, Owen Rivers was taken to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead a short time later.

The family of Owen River's is in need of money to pay for his funeral services and to pay for medical treatment for the injuries sustained in the crash.

The crash remains under investigation by the Georgia State Patrol's Special Collision Reconstruction Team.
