Bee problem for church becomes neat thing for local school

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

Students from Savannah Country Day School were buzzing with excitement on Saturday, as they helped a local church get rid of a big problem.

For several years, Jersusalem Baptist Church has experienced a growing issue with bees. It has been discovered that over 60,000 honeybees have created a hive within the walls of the church. At certain points, you could see honey oozing through the walls. So, rather than destroy the bees or their hive, the church is relocating the hive to Savannah Country Day's campus.

"Bees are good for the environment, and we have a lot of plants at our school. We also have lots of gardens with flowers and fruit, and these bees will help pollinate our stuff," said Fiona Wilson, Student.

This project will resolve the church's issue, safely relocate the honeybees to a protected area, and allow the students to continue to stay involved through the donation of Harvested Honey.
