MADISON COUNTY, AL (WAFF) -

Power outages were still affecting hundreds of people in Madison County Sunday morning.

Huntsville Utilities said Saturday's severe weather, which included high winds and frequent lightning, interrupted power to about 10,000 people. They said power was restored to the large outage areas by midnight, leaving only the areas in the vicinity of the damage.

About 300 people were still without power at 5 a.m. Sunday, according to Huntsville Utilities. Authorities said these outage areas are scattered across the county, including parts of Harvest-Monrovia, Toney, Madison, Huntsville, Gurley, Owens Cross Roads and New Hope. Utility crews are still working on these outages.

Around 1 a.m., Madison County Sheriff's Office said the area of Cedar Point Road and Carpenter Drive in New Hope was closed down because power lines were in the roadway.
