Raccoon Drive in Eden, GA, remains closed at this time as the investigation continues into a reported domestic dispute.
Just after 6 p.m., deputies responded to a report of a domestic dispute in the 100 block of Raccoon Drive.
"While Sheriff's deputies were on scene trying to get the suspect out of the residence, the suspect walked outside and fired at least one shot at a deputy," said Sheriff's Spokesman, David Ehsanipoor." The suspect retreated back into the residence before deputies were able to return fire," said Ehsanipoor.
"Unfortunately, you know, it is just one of those cases where there are people out there that are bold enough and brazen enough that they will come out there, and they will fire at law enforement, and this person is facing several charges including aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer, possession of a firearm during a crime, as well as several other charges," said Ehsanipoor.
The suspect eventually surrendered and was taken to the Effingham County Jail, and is being held without bond.
The officer is expected to be okay.
The incident is still under investigation.
