SANTA CLAUS, GA (WTOC) -

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation and the Toombs County Sheriff's Office is investigating a robbery and fatal shooting.

It happened around 11:30 p.m. Sunday in the town of Santa Claus at the Santa Claus Mini Mart gas station and convenience store along U.S. Highway 1 at December Drive.

Officials say the store owner, Chris Wiggins, was shot and killed during the robbery. Police have few details about the suspects except that they are two males and they likely fled by car.

"We're just trying to come up with any information we can but we are asking please, if you came by here around 11:30 last night, if you saw anything, if you saw a vehicle, please call it in and let us know," said Alvie Kight, Toombs County Sheriff.

No others were injured during the robbery.

The GBI Crime Scene Unit and Toombs County Sheriff's Office deputies and officials continue to investigate the scene.

"Just always be on your guard," said John's Country Junction owner John McDonald. "If somebody comes in, don't resist. I mean, we have video cameras. My understanding is this place [didn't have any] video, but uh, you just never know what's going to happen at any time."

Police said they are looking for two males who likely fled by car.

If you heard or saw anything around the time of the crime, please contact the Toombs County Sheriff's Office immediately.
