Tattnall County drowning victim identified

The Tattnall County Sheriff's Office has released the name of the person that drowned in the Ohoopee River area known as Jarriel's Bridge.

At approximately 8:30 p.m. on Monday the body of D'Marco Lee Castro was recovered from the water.

His body will be sent to the GBI Medical Examiner's Office in Savannah.

The Tattnall County Sheriff's received a report of a possible drowning early Monday after noon. When deputies arrived on scene, they learned that a 13-year-old Hispanic male began struggling while in the river swimming with friends.

Emergency responders searched the area the victim was last seen in.

The Tattnall County Sheriff's Office was assisted by Tattnall Emergency Management Agency, Tattnall County Emergency Medical Service, Tattnall County Coroner's Office, Toombs County Emergency Management Agency, Appling County Sheriff's Office Dive Team, Wayne County Emergency Medical Service Dive Team and the Georgia Dept. of Natural Resources.
