The investigation into a shooting incident that left one man wounded and another dead at a home in Burton continues.
Sheriff's deputies responded to a report of two gunshot victims at 1720 Jasper Stone Circle just before 6 p.m. Thursday. Upon arrival, one victim, later identified as 51-year-old Driscoll Dewayne Ramsey, was found lying unresponsive on the front porch of the home.
A second victim, identified as 72-year-old Ralph Wayne Ramsey was found lying on the floor inside the home.
Driscoll had a single gunshot wound to the head, and was pronounced dead at the scene.
His father, Ralph, was suffering from a gunshot wound to the arm, and was transported to Beaufort Memorial for treatment.
Ralph advised that he had been sitting on the porch when Driscoll came out of the house with a gun, yelling that he was going to kill him.
Ralph stood up to defend himself, at which time a shot was fired by Driscoll, striking him in the hand and arm.
Ralph said he crawled into the house to call 911, and while inside heard a second gunshot.
The preliminary findings of the investigation suggest that Driscoll died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound, however, the official cause of death is pending autopsy.
The investigation remains active at this time. Anyone with additional information is encouraged to contact Investigator Sgt. C. Wilson at 843-255-3409.
