Shooting victim's family asks for prayers, support

Phell Hudson, the man SCMPD detectives say shot a man in the parking lot of the International Longshoreman's Association, has been denied bond.

The victim's family spoke exclusively with WTOC, and they were very upset and confused about the whole incident. Now, they're asking for prayer and support.

Hudson shot Michael Allen after what co-workers said was a heated argument. Hudson appeared in court on Thursday, where we learned more about his history, including previous arrests and charges.

Allen's family was present at the hearing and watched in tears as the man who shot their loved one stood before the judge as Allen lies in a hospital bed.

"Michael was someone that never knew an enemy, and to see him laying in that hospital bed, unable to do anything is really hard for me and my family," said Allen's sister Renae Godwin.

The judge denied bond because the aggravated assault charges against Hudson could be upgraded because Allen is in critical condition.
