Summer vacation season is here and many homeowners remember to keep their homes properly lit, locked, and protected when they leave but a more likely visitor is one that has 4, 6, or 8 legs.

Arrow exterminators has a pre-vacation list for you to protect your family against pests:

  • Remove or drain sources of standing water in the yard including birdbaths, kiddie pools, saucers of flowerpots, and rain gutters. All of these things could be breeding grounds for mosquitoes.
  • Cut tree branches and other plants away from the home to keep insects from having easy transportation inside the house.
  • Look over the exterior of the home checking for cracks and crevices and make sure that doors and windows are well sealed.
  • Discard all garbage prior to leaving for vacation but if you have any that you must leave behind make sure it is placed in garbage cans that have tight seals.
  • Seal any leftovers and sweets in airtight containers to prevent infestations.
  • Seal your clothing in large plastic bags within your suitcase and keep them sealed during your hotel stay to prevent bed bugs from hitching a ride back home with you.
