SSU Receives $14,000 Endowment

It was a historic day for Savannah State as one community service sorority gave the university its very first endowment. On the campus yesterday, the Savannah alumnae chapter of Delta Sigma Theta sorority awarded Dr. Carlton Brown a gift of more than $14,000. The money will be used to pay for scholarships for deserving students.

The university holds a very special place in the hearts of members of the organization. "Many of our members are graduates of Savannah State University," said member Gladys Lambert. "We want to do all that we can to support the university and to be sure that scholarships are available to students."

Sorority members plan to continue donating to the fund. They hope their gift will inspire others to do the same.
