More than 4 million people across the world take part in Relay For Life each year, a community-based fundraising event for the American Cancer Society.
An event Friday evening at Walnut Hills High School, called Relay For Life of The Soul, aims to create cancer awareness in African American-minority communities.
Those interested in participating can walk as an individual, join a team or even walk a survivor lap for those who have been diagnosed with cancer.
The event begins at 6 p.m. Friday and ends at noon Saturday. Walnut Hills High School is located at 3250 Victory Parkway in Evanston.
