DOUGLAS, GA (WALB) -

Coffee Regional Medical Center is now home to a permanent memorial honoring two fallen first responders.

The hospital recently dedicated a memorial to paramedic Teresa Davis and EMT Randall Whiddon. They were killed in a crash while transporting a patient on Highway 32 in Irwin County in 2013.  The patient was also killed.

"We wanted to develop something to memorialize and honor their memories," said Michael Ethridge, EMS Director.

"We not only lost two employees in the line of duty but a patient as well in Mr. Charles Smith and we also laid a brick in the serenity garden in his memory," said Sherry Thomas, VP of Patient Services.

Whiddon and Davis had 50 years of combined service at the hospital. The memorial was dedicated June 6th, the first anniversary of the crash.
