First District Republican runoff candidate Buddy Carter picked up a major endorsement.
The third place finisher in the primary, John McCallum, who narrowly missed the runoff, is throwing support behind the former Pooler mayor and longtime state lawmaker. They made formal announcements in Brunswick and Savannah on Wednesday.
"To have somebody who's a steady hand, who's a reliable conservative, who has a proven track record of serving the people in the first district, and I think that's critical, and I know that in my heart of hearts that the best person for this job is Buddy Carter," said McCallum.
‘When you take someone with the conservative values that John McCallum has, and you get endorsed by him, I am truly humbled and truly appreciative of that," said Carter.
