Washington, MO (KTVI/CBS) - The brother and sister of the Duchess of Cambridge, along with many others, are part of a bicycle racing team that is cycling across America.

Pippa Middleton, in particular, drew worldwide attention when her sister Kate married Prince William in 2011.

Both she and her brother James are part of the Race Across America charity. The team relay race is 3,000 miles across 12 states. The cyclists began in Oceanside, CA, and will race to the finish line in Annapolis, MD.

The race raises money for several charities and honors Michael Mathews, the man who died after climbing Mount Everest.

"She went by, didn't stop, but I heard she moving along at a pretty good clip," said Dave Cochran, who planned to offer Pippa Middleton a burger. "There's always next year."

The Race Across America team's next stop is in Alton, IL.
