Two recovering after log truck accident

Posted: Updated:
LYONS, GA (WTOC) -

A log truck driver was taken to Savannah for treatment after a crash with a tractor trailer in Toombs County.

According to Georgia State Patrol, a tractor trailer was sitting on Highway 292 on the outskirts of Lyons waiting to turn into M&T Farms around 8:30 a.m.

A log truck driven by Otis Bacon approached from Lyons and swerved to avoid it. Bacon's truck clipped the back of the trailer before crashing into woods next to the road.

Troopers say Bacon's minor son was riding with him. The son was treated and released with minor wounds.

The crash spilled logs across Highway 292 and left it closed until early afternoon as crews moved the load to another truck.
