Metter park competes for new playground equipment

METTER, GA (WTOC) -

Metter's Jaycee Park is a finalist for a national contest to win $20,000 in playground equipment. Betsy McGriff spotted a contest online through KaBoom, a non-profit group, and Dr. Pepper/Snapple.

"We got some volunteers together and shot a video and got some elementary students to draw pictures of what their ideal park would be," she said.

Metter is currently in the Top 10 for online votes. If they're among the Top 5 when voting ends June 27, they win one of the equipment grants.

"We're the only Georgia city in the running for this, so we hope fellow Georgians will help us win," she added.
