I-95 Northbound wreck at mile marker 81 in Bryan Co. sends 4 to hospital

BRYAN CO., GA (WTOC) -

A single vehicle accident occurred at 8:30 a.m. on Sunday, June 22nd at mile marker 81 on Interstate 95 Northbound sending 4 people to Memorial University Medical Hospital and backing up traffic for miles.

Liberty County Fire Department and Midway Volunteer Fire Department responded to the accident involving a Ford F-150 bearing a Kentucky plate according to Sergeant C. Rodevolt of Georgia State Patrol.

Liberty County Police Department, Rincon police department, Bryan County Sheriff's Office, and Bryan County EMS also responded to the crash.

The truck went 30 feet in the woods and entrapped the 4 passengers.

It took nearly an hour to extract the passengers due to the extensive damage to the vehicle.

2 of the passengers were airlifted to Memorial University Medical Center while the other 2 were transported by ground.

The passengers injuries were non-life threatening.

The Northbound lanes of I-95 were closed while the helicopters were picking up the passengers.

The cause of the accident is under investigation by Georgia State Patrol.
