Former Chatham Co. deputy pleads not guilty in child molestation case

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

Former Chatham County Deputy Sheriff Lt. Richard Hall pleaded not guilty to a 25 count indictment Monday.

His charges consist of aggravated child molestation and other related crimes. The 52-year-old was arrested in December of 2013 and has remained in the Chatham County jail.

According to the Sheriff's Office, Hall was suspended without pay until he was fired after being indicted by a grand jury in March.

The state said they have discovered seven confirmed victims and said the inappropriate behavior dates back to 1990s.

Hall has a tenative jurt trial slated from Jan. 2015. His next court appearance will be Sept. 22.

The investigation was a joint effort between the CCSO and the District Attorney's Office, with technical assistance from the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.

Hall joined the CCSO in 1985 and was a lieutenant since 2007.
