Imani Children's Choir comes to Savannah

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

It was a night no one will soon forget.

Twenty-five boys and girls took over Savannah's St. John the Baptist Church. The children are from the Imani Children's Choir from Uganda and they're on an eight month tour of the United States, entertaining audiences through praise, worship and African music and dance.

On Tuesday night, they had the crowd in the palm of their hand.

"There was lots of love," said choir director Sam Straxy. "It was great reception and hospitality, and people love the children, and we saw that people are understanding the stories. They were drawn into the music."

All proceeds from the performances go directly to support Imani Milele Children's Orphaned and At-Risk Children Programs in Uganda, which supports more than 3,000 children.
