Man killed in head on collision in Long County

LONG CO., GA (WTOC) -

The Georgia State Patrol have reported a man was killed on Wednesday afternoon in a head on collision in Long County.

They said Jesse Parker died when his truck collided head on with a U.S. Army Recruiter.

The accident happened around 1p.m. on GA Highway 196 near Flowers Road.

Parker was driving eastbound toward Hinesville when his Chevrolet S-10 pickup truck veered into the westbound lane, hitting Karl Stephen who was driving a Chevrolet Malibu. Stephen tried to avoid hitting the truck, but after the crash Parker ended up on the side of the road in a ditch.

WTOC was told Parker was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident.

Stephen is listed in stable condition.
