BULLOCH CO., GA (WTOC) -

Patrol deputies were dispatched to Pulaski Rd near the Candler County line for a reported bicycle theft on Monday.

The victim stated that she had seen a black male subject riding the bike in the area.

Deputy William Sims located the black male, later identified as Anthony Lamar Brown, 25, and while speaking with him noticed Brown reaching into his waistband.

Brown was detained at gunpoint until other deputies arrived and Brown could be secured in handcuffs. He was found to have been reaching for a pistol which he had concealed in his waistband.

Further investigation by BCSO investigators revealed that the pistol had been stolen from a residence in the 7000 block of Pulaski Rd on June 9 in a burglary.

The bicycle had been stolen from a residence in the 1700 block of Brook Run Drive on June 20. Brown was found to be a convicted felon who had been convicted in both Jenkins and Burke counties of Entering Auto and Terroristic Threats.

He was released from the custody of the Georgia Department of Corrections in March 2014. Brown was also determined to be a member of the Gangster Disciples, a group to which several recent violent episodes over the past several months have been linked.

Brown was transported to the Bulloch County Jail where he remains in custody without bond.

He is charged with two counts of burglary, one count of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, one count of possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, one count of carrying a concealed weapon, one count of theft by taking, one count of obstruction and one count of participating in criminal gang activity.
