The Great Race makes stop at River Street in Savannah

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

River Street Savannah was one of the stops for the 2014 Hemmings Motor News Great Race as vintage cars made their way from Maine to Florida on Saturday, June 28th.

The race started on June 21st and all the cars are vehicles that were made in 1972 or prior.

The cars first arrived on River Street at 11:25 a.m., each of the racers stopped for a lunch break and then hopped back in their cars to continue with the timed race.

Some of the classic cars ranging from 1915 to 1972 featured in this years race were a "General Lee" 1969 Dodge Charger replica, the "Leslie Special", a 1915 Hudson, 1916 Studebacker, and even a 1930 Rolland Palain.

150,000 dollars worth of prizes are offered to the winners of the Great Race.

The cars were parked on River street for an entire hour before heading out to finish up the race.
